Set Up a Job or Classifieds Board

A job board is an easy way to add member benefit and increase the visibility of your chapter to local businesses. StarChapter's Classifieds tool can manage job listings, job seekers, and/or classified ad listings. All of these ad types display on the /classifieds.php page in all StarChapter systems, but it is more common to use pages that are specific to a certain ad type. In this way, there can be separate resource pages for job seekers and employers without creating extra management for chapter leaders. This article reviews how to get pages and forms setup for specific ad types. If additional restrictions and fees are wanted, those options can be built into the overall setup.

All pages and forms can be configured individually, so the job board can be managed to provide different levels of access to the public, members, or even specific member types. Additionally, pricing can be targeted by ad type or submitter. The one consistent setting throughout the job board will be the timeframe for the ad. A global setting will manage all ad types and automatically archive ads after that time period. Admins in the system can over-ride that to take ads down or extend them, as needed.

    Job Listing Form and Page

The job listing page and form are setup in most StarChapter systems by default. Add /classifieds.php?type=job to the end of your domain name to view this page with the form already linked at the top. The page and form can also be reviewed or modified in Content > Page Manager > Page Content and Content > Page Manager > Form Builder, respectively.

    1. Add the Classified Job Listing page to a navigation menu.

    Resume Form and Page

    1. Setup a new form to accept resume submissions.
    2. Create a page to display resumes.
    3. Add the resume page to a navigation menu.

    Classified Form and Page

Classifieds are probably the least used ad type, but they can be very useful if your industry benefits from buying and selling resources to one another. A page specifically to View Ads already exists in all StarChapter systems and can be viewed by adding /classifieds.php?type=classified to the end of your domain name. The form is not in the system by default and will have to be added.

    1. Setup a new form to accept classified ads. This can be done just like the resume form, except that the only ad type that should be kept is Classifieds.
    2. Update the page or the Classified Listing Outer page template (Design > Page Templates > Classified Page > Classified Listing Outer) to add the form link.

    3. Add the View Ads page to a navigation menu.
