StarChapter's service includes tools for sending mass e-mail communications to members and non-member contacts. This can be a great way to grow your association. However, it is important to only send emails to people who opt-in to receiving communication from your organization. StarChapter does not approve of using unsolicited lists or generating contacts who do not opt-in for email communication.
You should only send e-mail to people who have expressed some interest in the organization. This can be attending meetings, signing up for your e-mail list or newsletter, or making a purchase from the organization.
StarChapter does not support the sending of spam or unsolicited mass mail, nor the re-subscribing of individuals who have opted out of organization mailings.
Partly this is for compliance with federal CAN-SPAM regulations. It's also ensures that we can continue to provide this service.
When an e-mail host identifies a mail server that is sending spam, they stop accepting mail from that server. When unsolicited mailings are sent through StarChapter, it impacts the deliverability of all mail to that provider, not just mail to the one individual who reported a message as spam, and not just mail from a specific organization. Because of this impact, we need to take measures to ensure that we can continue to provide the mailing service to all of our customers.
