StarChapter’s new administration area is now here. We wanted to walk you through a few of the new main features. Welcome to the new admin area.

We’ve given the admin area a fresh look that’s mobile-friendly. In addition to all the features that you’re used to, we’ve added brand-new dashboards for a quick look at important chapter stats, added full encryption to all admin screens, updated and reorganized our Knowledgebase, and we’ve released StarChannel.

StarChannel

StarChannel is your leading resource for chapter insights, best practices, our latest blog posts, and more. It will bring more awareness to how thousands of professional and trade association chapters in numerous industries provide great experiences and value to their membership across the country.

After you login it appears on the right side. We have a few different views within it. In the Announcements tab, you’ll see information from our team on upcoming training sessions, holidays, or available downloads, like W-9’s for tax season. In the Newsletter tab, you’ll see information from this month’s newsletter. Including our StarChapter of the month feature where we showcase an interview with a featured chapter about ways they’ve used StarChapter to grow their membership, engagement, and revenue—and how you can, too. Finally, we have posts from the blog on StarChapter.com. where we share chapter management best practices, information on association specific trends, and more.

Dashboards

In the center area of the screen is our Snapshot dashboard, where you can get a quick overview of how your organization is doing. You’ll see a quick cross-section of your membership, data for your previous and upcoming meetings, revenue and activity, and information on email verification rates and statistics. Click on the ellipses on the upper right of any box to get a shortcut to common related areas or tasks, like sending a renewal notice for your expiring members. Rather than clicking into several areas to get the information, we now have it all in one place.

Under the Dashboards menu on the left, we have links to our other dashboards: Quick Start and Board Transition.

Quick Start covers all the basics and is a great way for organizations that are new to StarChapter to get things going. Our implementation team uses these same tools to get you up and running on StarChapter. Even if your chapter has been on StarChapter for a while but you’re new to the board, this can still be a great tool to see how your most important settings are configured.

Board Transition is specifically built for new and outgoing board members. We’ve highlighted all the things that are likely to change or need updating from year to year. From here, you can update your organization’s mailing and email addresses, change admin users, update your board, and review your documents and mailings. We also have reminders about resources to help make the new board successful, like training and technical support.

New Look

If you’ve been using the original look, you might be worried that you won’t know how to use the new admin, but don’t worry; we haven’t changed the way StarChapter works. All our left menu options are still around, but we’ve reorganized them to prioritize the features that chapters use most often.

Below the dashboards at the top, we have the Membership, Meetings, Communications, and Content areas that you’re used to. We divided the Content area into a few sub-menus to keep the list of items from being too long. Orders and Transactions now have their own menu area. And Admin User Maintenance, Statistics, and Configuration have moved into the General area at the bottom.

The new design gives us a bit more real estate in the main area, but if you’d like even more, you can collapse the main menu with this button. And, if your main menu has suddenly disappeared, you can click it again to get it back.

Across the top, you may have a test mode warning if you haven’t yet connected your payment gateway. You’ll also see a link to our knowledgebase, information on support tickets, and links under your name to manage your admin user profile, referral details, or review our terms and conditions.
