    Manually Unsubscribe Contacts

In most cases, members or contacts added to StarChapter are assumed to be subscribed. Subscription is inferred when someone applies for membership, registers for a meeting, or submits an interest form. In all mass mailings sent from StarChapter, an unsubscribe link will be available so those contacts can opt-out of mass mailings at any time. It is typically unnecessary to manually unsubscribe someone and you can often direct them to use the link at the bottom of any email to do so themselves. Conversely, you will very rarely subscribe someone manually since reversing that choice violates anti-spam legislation.

If a contact does reach out and asks to be removed from your mailing list and they are not willing or able to use the unsubscribe link in a past email, this can be done manually.

    1. Go to Membership > Non-Member Manager.

Tip: Follow this same process in Membership > Member Manager if a member requests to be unsubscribed.

    2. Search for the appropriate member and click their name to edit the profile.
    3. Click Edit in the General Information area.

    4. Remove the checkmark from the Mass Mailing field.

    5. Click Next to save the change.

Tip: To subscribe members and non-member contacts, these same steps can be followed to enable the Mass Mailing feature. Be cautious in manually subscribing any contact that has unsubscribed to ensure that anti-spam laws are being considered.
