Redesign to Our M Series
TRANSCRIPT
Thank you for checking out our video today. We’re really excited to show you our new M Series of layouts. These incorporate a lot of features that our customers have been asking for over the past few years and things that we really wanted to bring to you. I’ll be going through all of those new features on today’s presentation.
We’ve got the new mobile-friendly hamburger menu, a new Mobile Design Editor, a larger overall site width, and full-width slider images and content section backgrounds. And then one of the most exciting pieces, the expanded page content section library.
First we’ll look at those mobile improvements. The biggest thing is the hamburger menu, which is the three-line icon that you see on the left and in the upper left corners of the example screenshots. Historically, the main menu would take up a lot of space in the mobile view, and this hamburger menu which you’ve probably been accustomed to seeing on other websites and mobile apps, takes care of that problem and gives more of the real estate to that more important content.
And as mobile traffic continues to grow, we also wanted to add in more controls for that, so we’ve built in the Mobile Design Editor. This gives you more flexibility to really optimize things for your mobile visitors. We’ve also included a larger overall width to the system. As part of this, we’ve been able to make the slider images expand to the entire width of the screen as well as these content background colors. This is very on-trend right now, but our intention is not just to keep up with the visual design trends, but also with how people are using the Internet.
It used to be that all your really important content had to be above the fold, but we’re not really seeing that statistically anymore. People who are used to using social media are much more likely to scroll down the page, and so it’s okay to have content go longer. But if you do, you need to break that up visually. That’s why we’ve incorporated the content section background colors.
Finally, we have our expanded content section library. We’re showing a selection of the options for meetings here, but we’ve also added in new options for the display of board and committee members and other content. Rather than having a single meeting list, you have the option to choose from several different types of meeting lists, whether they incorporate icons or graphics, or a color block. In a lot of our designs you’ll see that that left example that looks like a desktop calendar page will be reversed, with the text in white and a colored box behind it. At the bottom, that meting countdown is actually a live countdown, so if you want to get some buzz going for your next event, it will count down the seconds as someone sits there and watches. So they really create a sense of urgency and attention for your larger events. A lot of the chapters’ value, we’ve seen, is based on the meetings, so this is an area where we wanted to have the most new options available.
We’ll also be continuing to add more options to our section library over time. If you visit starchapter.com/layouts , you can see all of our M Series layouts. And to cover each one in brief, we have:
- M Series 01, the initial one that we’ve brought out.
- M Series 02, which features a left-hand navigation menu. It’s better for square or vertically formatted logos because of the way everything’s laid out.
- M Series 03, which is more sleek and clean and engineered for a very wide logo that doesn’t share space with the main menu.
- M Series 04 is geared towards minimal chapters. If you don’t have a lot of content or if you’re just starting out, M Series 04, because of its focus on the images, could be very appropriate for you. That main graphic will go all the way down to the bottom of the monitor.
- M Series 05 features the menu on top. It’s very similar to M Series 03 but with the positions swapped, plus the options for social media in the header.
And those are our options for the M Series. Now, whichever one you choose, we will be incorporating your organization’s logo, your color scheme, and other graphic styles, as well as images that relate to your professional or geographic area so that the final design is geared specifically towards you and your chapter members.
So if you’ve decided that you’d like to get started with an M Series layout, your next step is to go into your admin area and enter a support ticket to let us know that you’re interested. We have a few different packages available for the M Series redesigns. Because of the new features involved, customers who are on one of our older plans will have to upgrade to one of the newer plans to use the M Series features. Thank you so much for watching our video today, and if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with us by entering a support ticket.
