    Embed Youtube and Facebook

    TRANSCRIPT

    Intro

Let's say you found a great resource video on YouTube that you want to post so that your members can view it. Or maybe there's a lot happening on your chapter's Facebook page. This video will show you how to bring social media into your chapter's pages.

Now, it is possible that YouTube or Facebook will change their interface in the future. If that happens, things may look a little different. Still, the basic process will be the same.

    Youtube

We'll start on the video itself. Under the video is a Share link. The option we want is Embed. Click on Copy in the bottom right. Now the code for the video is in our clipboard.

Now that we have it, we'll hop into the admin area. We'll go to Content > Page Manager > Page Content. Find the page where you want to add the video. I'm using our home page. Then, click on the Content & Layout button.

We need a nice wide column--otherwise the video might be too big to fit and run off the right side. Click the plus sign and choose the Blank section template. Name your new section. Then, click on the angle brackets button to go into the code view. Paste the code.

Save your changes. Scroll down and click on the Add button. We may be prompted to authenticate ourselves with a CAPTCHA because we're putting in third-party code. We'll click on Preview, and if everything looks OK, click Publish at the bottom.

    Facebook

Now, what about posts from our chapter's Facebook page? We're going to look for a Facebook page plugin. We'll put in our Facebook page URL and set our width and height. I like to put these in sidebar columns, so I use a width of two hundred pixels and a height of four hundred fifty pixels. There's a preview, and button to get the code. This one's a little more challenging: we have two codes instead of one. Not to worry, though: we're just going to copy and paste twice instead of once.

Just like before, I'm going into the admin area. Then Content > Page Manager > Page Content. Find the page where you want to add the Facebook feed. I'm using our home page again. Then, click on the Content & Layout button.

We'll name our section first. Then, click on the angle brackets to bring up the code view. We're pasting in the first code, and then the second. Save the changes and add the section. And we are being prompted to complete a CAPTCHA. This is just an extra safety measure from the web application firewall that we use. Our section has been added. Preview your modified page to make sure it all looks good. Then publish it.

And there we have it. For more tips and tricks, please check out the other videos in our knowledgebase, or contact our support team through the life ring icon in the admin area.
